PRESS: Aeroflot to order 100 more SSJ100 planes
MOSCOW, Sep 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s national flagship carrier Aeroflot will order 100 Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) planes from Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, Vedomosti business daily reported on Monday citing five sources close to the deal.
The agreement will be signed on Monday, a federal-level source said.
The order will be made in accordance with Aeroflot’s new strategy which envisages creation of several regional hubs, two sources said. Now Aeroflot performs all its flights through Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport and has no direct flights between other cities.
In June, Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Savelyev said that some regional hubs will be built but did not name the cities.
Aeroflot and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft declined to comment.
The airline’s fleet now includes 49 SSJ100 planes.
